Rowland’s effort to have his conviction for campaign fraud overturned was denied by a U.S. Court of Appeals from the 2nd District on Friday, according to the Connecticut Post. Rowland, who faces 30 months in prison, was convicted of trying to hide that he was working as a shadow campaign worker for congressional candidate Lisa Wilson-Foley in 2012. Mooney, 25, is accused of buying bought alcohol for a 17-year-old student and then having sex with him, according to officials. A science teacher, Mooney, of Danbury, was arrested last year and charged with second-degree sexual assault and providing alcohol to a minor.
