Tappan Zee HS Community Offers Seniors Safe Graduation Party ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- It's time for the seniors to celebrate, and the Tappan Zee High School PTSA will help them do just that during Project Graduation ’16 from Thursday, June 23, (graduation day), until the early hours of Friday, June 24.  Project Graduation is a supervised, substance-free, all-night party given to the graduating students. Rockland Water Coalition Asks Residents To Speak Against Rate Changes ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Rockland Water Coalition is calling all residents to come and speak on June 15 and 16 at public hearings against a new request of $54.5 million in rate hikes from Suez which would raise the average Rockland county resident's monthly water bill by $8.17 a month.  The coalition said that a part of the increase would allow Suez to recoup $54 million it spent on its failed desalination plant in Haverstraw. Pleasantville Student Wins Honorable Mention For Anne Frank Letter PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- A Pleasantville student recently won an honorable mention in the national Letters About Literature contest sponsored by the Library of Congress. Violet Fearon's letter to Anne Frank, one of 50,000 entries from students in grades 4-12 nationwide, previously won first place in Level 3 in the state portion of the contest.  The winning letters from each state were judged by a national committee, which selected three national winners per level: a first place winner and two honorable mentions.
