New Canaan School District To Renovate Central Office
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan School District will renovate its central office, which employees have called home for the past 24 years, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
The building at 39 Locust Ave., owned by FJL Holdings, has not seen any upgrades since 1992, the Advertiser. Renovations are estimated to cost $550,000, spread out over a 10 year timespan. Before renovations can take place, the district will have to renegotiate its lease, said the New Canaan Advertiser.

Ridgefield Man Identified As Victim In Fatal Crash In Bethel
BETHEL, Conn. -- David M. Wood of Ridgefield has been identified as the person killed May 16, when his car went off the road on Route 53 in Bethel, slammed in to a tree and burst into flames, according to News-Times.
Wood, 24, of Mountain View Avenue, was driving near the Redding border when the accident occurred. Wood was pronounced dead later at Danbury Hospital, said News-Times.
Police are asking witnesses to the accident to contact Officer Jason Broad at 203-743-5500, ext. 206, added News-Times.

Stratford Man Arrested After Slamming Car Into Stone Wall In Westport
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Stratford man has been arrested by Westport Police after slamming his car into a stone wall on Bridge Street around midnight on Monday, May 16, while driving under the influence.According to police, Kimberly Finney, 41, crashed his car into a stone wall, then left the scene on foot. Officers located him on Imperial Avenue, where he refused to cooperate. Finney continued to walk away from officers as they ordered him to stop.
Officers finally grabbed Finney, who then began to struggle and pull away. Finney was taken to the ground and handcuffed, police said.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle YMCA offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and recertification courses.
Upon completion of the courses, participants will receive certifications in whichever course they complete. Participants must be 15 years old to take part in the courses.

Trumbull Woman Gets 33 Months For Driving Drunk, Hitting DOT Worker
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- A 25-year-old woman will spend 33 months in prison for driving drunk and running into a Department of Transportation worker, throwing him 10 feet and leaving him with permanent brain damage, according to the Connecticut Post.
The accident occurred April 26, 2015, on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford as 56-year-old Kevin Holloran was helping to clean up an accident scene, the Post said.
