Sikorsky Airport Hopes To Restart Upgrades To Runways STRATFORD, Conn. -- A project to upgrade the runways for safety reasons at Bridgeport-operated Sikorsky Airport in Stratford may be back on track by June if the Federal Aviation Administration lifts its current work stoppage, according to the Connecticut Post. Airport officials are frustrated by the length of time the airport has been operating with one runway and with the long inspection by the FAA, said the Connecticut Post. Westport's North Avenue Bridge Will Be Closed Overnight Through May 31 WESTPORT, Conn. -- Commuters will want to plan for detours as works begins on the North Avenue Bridge on Monday, May 16, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.The bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Tuesday, May 31, for installation of the temporary support system and other construction upgrades.  Detour signs will be in place. Residents are encouraged to seek alternate routes and allow for additional travel time in the overnight hours.  The current alternating one-way traffic pattern will resume each day at 5 a.m.

Darien Light Bulb Swap A Success DARIEN, Conn. -- Nearly 250 Darien residents recently participated in the town’s first light bulb swap at the Darien Library, where they exchanged nearly 1,300 incandescent light bulbs for new, energy-efficient Energy Star LED bulbs, free of charge. Each Darien resident who swapped out five of their home’s old, inefficient light bulbs is expected to save more than $50 in annual energy costs. Combined, these residents will save approximately $13,000 annually.
