Westport's North Avenue Bridge Will Be Closed Overnight Through May 31 WESTPORT, Conn. -- Commuters will want to plan for detours as works begins on the North Avenue Bridge on Monday, May 16, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.The bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Tuesday, May 31, for installation of the temporary support system and other construction upgrades.  Detour signs will be in place. Residents are encouraged to seek alternate routes and allow for additional travel time in the overnight hours.  The current alternating one-way traffic pattern will resume each day at 5 a.m.
