Bridgeport Lawyer Charged With Conspiring To Defraud Homeowners
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport lawyer, who also lives in Maryland, was indicted along with an Easton man on charges of scheming to defraud distressed homeowners throughout the state, said U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Deirdre M. Daly.
According to the indictment, Bradford Barneys, 50, of Bridgeport, and Timothy Burke, 64, of Easton, conspired to defraud individuals, mortgage lenders and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by falsely representing to homeowners who were facing foreclosure on their homes that Burke would purchase their homes and pay off their mortgages.

Trumbull, Monroe Residents Encouraged To Attend Routes 25/111 Meeting
MONROE, Conn. -- Monroe First Selectman Steve Vavrek is urging residents to attend a meeting a study to identify strategies to improve traffic operations along routes 25 and 111 in Trumbull and Monroe Wednesday, April 20 at Monroe Elementary School to offer their input and to ask questions. The study will look at ways to make the improvements, especially during peak commuting hours to both routes, which regionally significant corridors serving local businesses, employers, schools, medical facilities and retailers located in Trumbull, Monroe and Newtown.

KENT, N.Y. -- Kent police recently made four arrests ranging from drunken driving to drug charges. The arrests include:
Kent police received a 911 call Sunday reporting a car accident on Whitepond Road. When officers responded, they found an unoccupied 1997 Lexus with front end damage in the middle of the road. The driver, Yevgenity Gorodetskiy, 35, of Lynn, Mass., was located by officers nearby, police said. Westport Man Charged With Drunken Driving After Crash
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Westport man was charged with driving under the influence after crashing his vehicle on Whitney Street on Friday, April 15, according to the Westport Police Department.Police said that around 10 p.m., they found Michael Saltzman, 26, outside his crashed vehicle. As officers approached, they could smell alcohol and his speech was slow and slurred, according to police.
