Dolan’s Bar and Grill, located at the corner of Middle and Golden Hill streets, received heavy fire and extensive damage on the second floor, Bridgeport Fire Department officials told the Connecticut Post. New Canaan Favors Selling Playhouse NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Town of New Canaan is looking to get out of the movie theater business and is considering selling the Playhouse on Elm Street, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.  First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III said last week that he favored selling the building so the infrastructure costs would not be at the taxpayers' expense, the New Canaan Advertiser said. Although no buyer has stepped forward, several businesses and people have expressed an interest, including Bow Tie Cinemas, said the New Canaan Advertiser. Testing conduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said the discovery of 1,4-dioxane at the site -- a former dumping site of industrial waste for Ford Motor Co. -- poses no health threat to the public, even though the chemical has been deemed a probable carcinogen, said NorthJersey.com.
