These High Schools Ranked Top 5 In Loudoun County, Report Says The grades are in and these Loudoun County high schools are a cut above the rest, according to the community and school ranking site Niche. After considering a number of key areas, the following schools were ranked in the website’s 2023 “Best Public High Schools in Loudoun County” report: No. 1 - Blair Woods High School No. 2 - Riverside High School No. 3 - Rock Ridge High School No. 4 - Freedom High School No. 5 - Broad Run High School All five high schools earned an overall grade of A+ Click here for the complete list from Niche.

Drinking Water Outages Reported Across Howard County Many Howard County residents were without drinking water Sunday, Aug. 20, officials said. The county's Department of Public Works (DPW) responded to reports of drinking water service outages in Elkridge, later identifying a rupture of a 36-inch drinking water main coming from the Elkridge Pumping Station, police said. 1 Dead In Early-Morning US 40 Crash One person died in a crash on US 40 in Harford County early Monday, Aug. 21. The crash happened on the 2200 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood around 5 a.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. No further details were released. DUI Virginia Officer On Leave After Crash That Hospitalized 7 Victims A Fairfax County police officer was charged with driving under the influence after a car crash Saturday, Aug. 19, his department said. Officer Justin Faison, who was sworn in last year, was in his personal vehicle at the time of the two-car crash on Route 50 near South Manchester Street in Seven Corners, authorities said. 1 Dead In Chesapeake Bay Boat Crash One person died and another was injured when two boats collided on the Chesapeake Bay Saturday night, Aug. 19, fire officials said. Multiple agencies including the Calvert County Sheriff responded to the scene after the 9:40 p.m. crash 2.25 miles off Breezy Point, the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department said. A rescue boat brought the victims to land. CPR was performed on one of the victims, who was in cardiac arrest. That victim died after being taken to Capitol Regional Hospital. Tragic Cause Of Death Released For Humpback Whale That Washed Up On NJ Beach The cause of death has been released for the humpback whale that washed up on a New Jersey beach last weekend. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said a necropsy showed the 27-foot-long male found on a Long Branch beach Saturday, Aug. 12, suffered blunt force trauma his his head and neck. Woman, 25, On Life Support, Man Dead In Baltimore Shooting A man died and a woman was critical following a shooting overnight in Baltimore. A 25-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were found suffering gunshot wounds in the 800 block of Guilford Avenue around 3:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, Baltimore police said. First aid was rendered.
