Rutherford Completes Change To Single Stream Recycling Collection RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Rutherford Department of Public works has completed the conversion to single stream recycling collection as of Dec. 1. As a result, bottles, cans, plastics, paper, and cardboard may now be placed together in the same container and no longer need to be separated. Automated recycling containers have been specified and are going out to competitive bid. The containers will similar to the trash containers with the exception that the color will be blue. Recycling containers will be distributed upon arrival.

He was 79. Westphal was born Feb. 23, 1936 to Fred A. and Helen Westphal in Jersey City, and was raised on Birchwood Drive in East Paterson.  In 1957, Westphal married the girl across the street, Nancy Pityo, and they settled in Oakland.  From 1954 to 1974, Westphal proudly served in the Army National Guard and was promoted to First Sergeant when he transferred to the Army Reserves serving from 1974 to 1977 and officially retired in 1996 with an Honorable Discharge.  Westphal also worked at…

He was 92.Lockatell was born on July 8, 1923 in Fairview, NJ to Josephine (Eberhart) and Peter Lockatell Sr. He was the second of three children. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1941. Lockatell enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1942, serving his country during World War II until 1946 after which he re-enlisted in 1948 for four more years.
