Somers firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes after receiving a call regarding a single-story ranch-type home with smoke in the basement. Two Face Charges After Police Check On Suspicious Vehicle In Montebello MONTEBELLO, N.Y. -- Two local men sitting in a dark parking lot in Montebello were collared after a Ramapo police officer, who had stopped to check out the car, smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the Ramapo Police Department. After a brief investigation, Dimitriy Shatrovskiy, 32 of Congers was charged with possession of marijuana. His passenger, Michael Snyder, 33, of Pomona, had an active warrant out of the village of Spring Valley and was arrested and turned over to that department. Shatrovskiy is set to appear in court at a later date.

Lenny A. Barr, 44, was stopped by Tarrytown troopers for a routine traffic violation in February 2015. During the stop, troopers discovered he was in possession of heroin and marijuana, state police said. Advisory Issued For Bogus Police Fundraising Calls In Rockland ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  Rockland County police agencies are altering residents to a bogus police fundraising telephone scam. The Clarkstown Police Department said they have been told that residents are getting phone calls soliciting money for the Rockland County PBA and the Spring Valley PBA.  "We have spoken to those police organizations and they have confirmed that they have not started a fundraising campaign and to please disregard those calls," officials said.
