Born in the Bronx on Dec. 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Arthur and Winnifred (Kernan) George. George worked as an electrician for Local 3 IBEW in Queens for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. Charles 'Chuck' Flickinger, Longtime Lake Carmel Firefighter, 56 CARMEL, N.Y. --  Charles “Chuck” Flickinger, 56, of Lake Carmel, died Sunday following a long battle with cancer.  Flickinger, born on April 10, 1960, to Charles and Joan (Markham) Flickinger, Sr., in Middletown, Conn., served with the U.S. Marines from 1978 to 1982 and was a lifetime member of the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Married to Charlotte Berwind since 1996, Flickinger worked as a registered nurse at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. Rye Neck High School Evacuated After Gas Smell Detected MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Students were briefly evacuated from Rye Neck High School in the Village of Mamaroneck on Wednesday after a strong smell of gas overtook the building, according to the Village of Mamaroneck police. Police and fire responded and as a precaution evacuated the school as they searched for the source of the odor, police said. A gas leak on a valve was found in the science department and Con Edison was called to repair the problem. Students were out of class for less than 30 minutes, police said.

Tanya Lindsey, 44, is wanted for failing to appear in court to answer charges for writing the worthless check. She is described as being a black female, 5-feet-4, with black hair and brown eyes. Davis, 22, of Poughkeepsie, was killed Tuesday when he lost control of his car on Federal Road 44, crossed the double yellow line and slammed into another vehicle in oncoming traffic, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. Suffern Man Involved In Crash Had BAC Three Times Legal Limit, Police Say SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A Suffern man involved in a single-car accident on Tuesday, was driving at three times the legal limit in Suffern Park, according to the Ramapo Police Department. Joseph Colon, 25, was charged with driving under the influence and aggravated driving under the influence after failing several field sobriety tests and testing at more than 0.18 percent in a blood alcohol content test, said Detective Lt. Crash Causes Route 44 Closure In Poughkeepsie POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Route 44 in the Town of Poughkeepsie reopened Tuesday evening after being closed in both directions near Tamarack Hill Drive and Rochdale Road due to a crash.
