Homeless Man Found Dead Inside Mount Vernon Camper MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A homeless man was found dead on Monday inside an abandoned mobile camper at a business on Fulton Avenue, according to Mount Vernon Police Capt. Roy Hasting. The man, who was known to frequent the camper on and off over the years, is believed to have died from natural causes, Hasting said. "The owner would have him removed from time to time, this time we were notified of a foul odor coming from the trailer and found him inside deceased," Hasting said. Central Hudson contractors will be working mid-block installing a gas service at 177 South Cherry St., and repairing a gas leak at 200 South Cherry St. Emergency vehicles will be able to access South Cherry Street from both directions if necessary.

One Hospitalized In Yonkers Stabbing YONKERS, N.Y. -- A Yonkers man was stabbed on Wednesday following an argument with another person in front of a Yonkers residence, according to Yonkers Lt. Patrick McCormack. The man received minor injuries during the attack at 269 Woodworth Ave., around 6:30 p.m., McCormack said. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he was treated and released, police said. "He's not cooperating at all so we really don't know what caused the fight," McCormack said. The investigation is continuing, no arrests have been made.

Yorktown Man Charged With Throwing Family Member Against Wood-Frame Bed YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A Yorktown man was charged with assault after throwing a family member against a wood bed frame on Tuesday, according to Yorktown Police. Police arrested William Lambert, 53, after investigating a domestic violence complaint at a home on Beaver Drive, police said. During the dispute, police determined that Lambert had thrown the family member against the bed, causing pain and injury. He was process and released on his own recognizance. He is set to appear in court on Thursday. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

'Suspicious' Man With Flashlight Prompts Check At Ramapo School RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police responded to a local elementary school on Tuesday evening after receiving a call from a passing motorist who reported seeing a person with a flashlight walking around the parking lot, according to the Ramapo Police.  The responding officer located the person and found out that he was the school custodian.  Police said school security and the safety of students and staff remains a high priority of the police department and they have conducted 262 school security checks since the beginning of school.

'Severe Drought' Conditions Persist In Armonk Despite rain and cooler temperatures last week, most of Hudson Valley remains under severe drought conditions, according to officials at the Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University. The week’s Drought Monitor shows 24 percent of the Northeast is abnormally dry compared to 38 percent last week, the center added. Dave Sachs, East Ramapo Basketball Coach, Dies RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The  East Ramapo school district and hundreds of students, former students and athletes are mourning the passing on Tuesday of Dave Sachs who spent more than four decades coaching athletics, according to lohud.com. Sachs, 68, who died after suffering a heart attack, retired from the district in 2013, but had recently returned to serve as the head coach for the Pomona Middle School girls soccer team, said lohud.com.
