Police Officer Injured In Taconic State Parkway Crash Returns Home A police officer who suffered life-threatening injuries during a motorcycle crash in Putnam Valley two weeks ago on the Taconic Parkway, is back in Connecticut to receive treatment, according to lohud.com. Son Of State Trooper Becomes Bethel Police Department's Newest Officer BETHEL, Conn. -- Ryan Tharas, of Fairfield, was recently sworn in as the newest Bethel Police Officer. Tharas, 21, who is currently attending the Connecticut Police Academy for the next six months, has law enforcement in his blood. His father is a Connecticut state trooper.  A former student at Western Connecticut State University studying justice, Tharas will receive four months of field training with senior Bethel Police Department officers after finishing the academy.

Trucker Suspected In Fatal Hit-And-Run Over Drugs Headed Back To Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A tractor-trailer driver who is suspected of pushing a man out of the cab of his truck and running over him during a dispute over drug money will be extradited back to Bridgeport to face charges, according to the Bridgeport police. Lorenzo Anthony Doke, 33, of Big Rapids, Mich., was apprehended in Maryland by the U.S. Marshals Service, where he will be held pending extradition, police said. William Mejia-Alas, 29, told police he considered himself a father figure to the girl, who is seven and half months pregnant.
