Woman Charged With Stealing Check From Monroe Business To Pay Rent MONROE, Conn. -- A Terryville woman was arrested after she was accused of stealing a business check from her employer, Meineke Car Care Center on Main Street in Monroe, so she could pay her rent, according to the Monroe Courier. Police said Kimberly Payne, 34, stole the check for $4,000 and cashed it. She turned herself in June 8 to Monroe police after a warrant was issued for her arrest, said the Monroe Courier. Saw Mill Parkway Crash Injures Two YONKERS, N.Y. -- Two people were injured during a car crash that shut down the Saw Mill River Parkway early Sunday morning near the Fort Field Avenue overpass in Yonkers, according to News 12. According to police, one driver hit another car before driving into the bushes. The driver received serious injuries and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment, said News 12. Bear Hit And Killed On I-84 In Newtown NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A Naugatuck woman hit and killed a black bear on June 10 while driving on I-84 in Newtown, according to the News-Times. A 61-year-old woman was driving eastbound in the left lane with an 11-year-old passenger when the black bear tried to cross the roadway, the News-Times reported. She swerved to avoid striking the bear, but hit it in the left lane before hitting a guardrail and ending up in the median, said the News-Times.
