Pancakes, Prizes Served Up By New City Boy Scouts On June 12 NEW CITY, N.Y. -- The Boy Scouts of Troop 97 New City will sponsor their 9th annual Pancake Breakfast/Raffle fundraiser on Sunday, June 12 at Street School in New City.The troop's first pancake breakfast was held in 2008 in partnership with the New City Ambulance Corps.  This year's event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon to raise funds for the troop and to help community organizations, including People to People, Rockland County’s largest food pantry.  The troop has donated more than $1,000 per year with monies raised from the event. Danbury City Councilman Resigns After 14 Years Of Service DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury City Councilman Jack Knapp has resigned from his City Council seat after serving 14 years with the city, six years on the Zoning Commission, and eight on the Council, according to WLAD.com. Boy Struck By Hit And Run Driver In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. -- A boy was struck by a hit and run driver on Thursday at the intersection at Broadbridge Avenue and Vought Place in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post. Police told the Connecticut Post that the vehicle may have been a dark colored Subaru. The boy's injuries were not life-threatening. Putnam Prostate Cancer Survivor Urges Regular Screenings CARMEL, N.Y. -- During Men's Health Month, cancer survivor Peter Chisick of Carmel, wants to remind all men to receive regular health check-ups. Chisick was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January  2013. Following prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests that were elevated, Chisick had 13 biopsies taken from his prostate that confirmed the disease.  Chisick was lucky in that the cancer had not spread and was treatable with radiation and hormone therapy. He had 44 radiation treatments at Putnam Hospital Center over the course of two months and hormone shots administered every three month…

Hershey Issues Voluntary Recall Of SoFit Products The Hershey Company has issued a voluntary recall of three products sold under the SoFit brand after a supplier who provides sunflower seeds for the products expanded its recall on June 1.  The supplier, SunOpta issued a recall after discovering that it produced sunflower seeds that may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.  Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in pregnant women, young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
