NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Newtown Youth & Family Services will host a soccer double header at Blue & Gold Stadium on Friday, May 6 to raise funds for peer-to-peer mentoring programs in the Newtown community.The New York Cosmos B will face the Westchester United Soccer Club and will be followed by Newtown Pride FC taking on Reading United A.C. Company Pays Bill For Habitat for Humanity Home In Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A financial company paid an overdue $27,000 property tax bill for a home in Bridgeport so that Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County can rebuild and sell it to a low-income family.The duplex unit in Bridgeport had been abandoned by its previous owners and built-up $12,500 in property taxes owed to the city of Bridgeport. Interest and penalties had swelled the bill to $27,000. The city seized the property through foreclosure and sold it to Habitat for Humanity. CLARKTOWN, N.Y. -- Twenty-seven local enforcement officers were honored Thursday by Rockland County Executive Ed Day for collectively removing 338 drunk-drivers from area roadways during 2015. Greenburgh Water Rates Increasing
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner announced that the town will raise water rates by 9.5 percent due to an increase in the cost of water that is purchased from New York City, and a need to pay for improvements to the local infrastructure. The Greenburgh Water District is responsible for providing more than 40,500 of the 43,000 residents with water. Since 2014, the last time there was a water rate increase, New York City has increased the charge to the town for this water by 15.5 percent, Feiner said.
