Driver, 80, Who Turned Into Crosswalk Killing Pedestrian Cited: Fairfax County PD An 80-year-old driver was served on summons-releasable charges in connection to a deadly crash in Fairfax County last month, police announced. Gamaathige Desoya, of Vienna, was trying to turn left onto northbound Kirby Road on Aug. 12 in McLean, when she struck Brigitte Foster, 86, who was in the crosswalk, the FCPD said. Desoya was cited for Improper Turn and Failure to Yield for a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. Excessive speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. Missing Man Found Alive After Search Of Shenandoah National Park (Update) A missing 75-year-old man was found alive Saturday, Sept. 2, after a search of Shenandoah National Park. Jerry Bailey, 75, was reported missing to Shenandoah National Park Rangers early Sept. 1. His backpack was found in Pinefield Hut off Skyline Drive near mile 75.2. Bailey was found by searchers at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, in the southern part of the park near Ivy Creek (mile 77.5).  Shenandoah activated a full-scale search operation early today. Motorcyclist Who Died In Fairfax County Crash Was On Stolen Bike, Police Say Police have identified the 22-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash involving a stolen bike Thursday, Aug. 31 in Fairfax County. Merle Webster Beach, of Springfield, was riding a stolen 2004 Suzuki on Henderson Road near thistledown Trail at a high rate of speed when he crested a small hill and lost control around 1:20 p.m. in Fairfax Station, police said.
