Fatal Train Crash Was Possible Suicide, Police In Virginia Say
New information shows that a fatal crash involving a train may have been intentional, police in Virginia say.
Jay Douglas Alvey, of Woodbridge, was walking along the tracks on Featherstone Road and Marseille Lane on Saturday, Aug. 12, but made no attempts to get off as the train approached and sounded its horn, Prince William County police are now saying.
"Following the investigation, and due to the incident not occurring at a crossing, the case will be classified as a death, possible suicide, and no longer a crash," the department said.
