Hudson River Kayaker's Death Ruled Homicide By Medical Examiner MONTGOMERY, N.Y. -- Medical examiners have ruled the death of Hudson River Kayaker Vincent Viafore a homicide, according to The New York Times. The autopsy report lists the official cause of death as drowning. Viafore was not wearing a life vest and capsized in hypothermic water. Toxicology reports also stated that Viafore had a blood alcohol concentration of .066, below the legal limit.
