Ramapo High Key Club Members Smash Car To Benefit Breast Cancer Research RAMAPO, N.Y. --  Ramapo High School Key Club members and students recently had a chance to take out their frustrations while having fun during the club's Car Smash fundraiser to help raise funds for breast cancer research. During the event, Key Club members, led by math teacher and Key Club adviser Donnette Wilson-McLaughlin, painted a car pink and wrote slogans on it. Then students paid a dollar for two swings on the car with a hammer. More than 120 students came out to participate, most wearing pink, to help the club raise more than $500. Rockland Sheriff: Man Stopped For Erratic Driving On Route 59 Was Drunk  A Yonkers man was arrested by Rockland County Sheriff's deputies following a traffic stop on Route 59, acccording to Sheriff Louis Falco. Justin Thomas, 27, was stopped after a deputy saw him driving in an erratic manner. During the stop, deputies determined he was intoxicated and in possession of marijuana, police said. Thomas was processed at the Sheriff's headquarters in New City and released on a summons to appear in the Clarkstown Justice Court.

Yonkers Firefighter, 53, Dies From 9/11-Related Disease Lt. John Mario Rodriguez, “J-Rod," 53, of the Yonkers Fire Department died Wednesday, Oct. 19 from a 9/11-related disease. Rodriguez, a Yonkers resident who was born in Cuba, is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann Finning Rodriguez, and two sons, John and James Rodriguez.  Rodriguez was a member of the YFD for 16 years, most recently he served as lieutenant with Ladder 71 in Yonkers.
